The Mini Golf season commences
Training for the for the forthcoming Mini Golf season began in earnest over the bank holiday weekend with a trip to the nice little 12 holer in Dorridge, near Solihull.

After dodging the showers, play began, with Fincho storming to an early lead with a hole in one at the first. Another hole in one followed shortly afterwards, but things soon went downhill for her in more ways than one, when an overhit shot at the tenth caused the ball to go rocketing off the playing surface and into a nearby stream. Oh dear...

Perhaps the old adage is true - "A goth should never play mini golf whilst wearing a poncho"...

What do mean you've never heard it?

I shot a solid if unspectacular round - though sadly without an ace (as they are known in the trade).

It's a nice course, let down only by the spectacular difficulty of the 11th hole.

Another bonus was the excellent pub over the road called the Drum and Monkey, which stocked a selection of real ales for the discerning mini golfer.

The only downside to the day was the arrival of a group of uber-serious Germans, who looked at me sternly for my ill-suited choice of mini golf attire. Where do they all come from?!?!? It's like going up to your local park for a kickabout only to find the pitch already occupied by a team of visiting Brazillians....
